Punch

In record speed MungosWorks has designed and built a punch. A producer of acoustic lathes ordered a machine that can treat existing U-section in such a way that a small tab containing a hole can be folded outwards for assembly purposes. Also a hole has to be punched in the back of the U-section. The mutual distance needs to be adjustable. This is seen in the pictures below.

The delivery time had to be less than five weeks. The entire machine has been designed and built within this time frame. In the first two weeks several different concepts have been evaluated, after which the final design was converted into production and assembly drawings within one week. The final two weeks were used to fabricate the different parts, order external parts, and assembly of the machine. The pictures below show the result.

The machine also has to be easily adjustable for two different sizes of U-section, with a width of 60mm and 100mm. The U-sections are inserted with their backside up. When the U-section is at its correct position inside the punch, the hydraulic cylinders are activated, resulting in all the punch actions being performed simultaneously. After this the U-section is guided further through the punch for the next punch action.

MungosWorks was allowed to use the facilities of Berg Product from De Lier. Thanks to quick availability of a metal sheet laser cut machine and an assembly area, as well as a couple of employees, the project has been rounded off successfully.
