All the people of MungosWorks have been studying at the Delft University of Technology. Because of this, creating computer models and performing structural analysis with the help of these models is one of the core activities of the company. With the use of powerful three dimensional CAD programs models are being created which can be used for structural and fatigue analysis for a variety of structures. The material out of which a structure is fabricated contributes in a great deal whether a certain structure will meet the demands of the costumer. Especially plastics (PolyPropylene, High Density PolyEthylene) are very interesting materials because of their highly elastic and time depending properties. During the calculations several DIN-standards are being used.
Especially in the metal processing sector and the industry sector, a trend to using structural optimizations is seen, because of the need to minimize production costs due to the low profit margins. In the plastics processing sector the knowledge obtained by years of experience is no longer sufficient as new larger structures are demanded. One of these plastics processing companies has asked MungosWorks to analyse a variety of plastic products for their structural strength and fatigue properties. Products like large water tanks (10.000 litres), reservoirs on ships, plastic ponds, etc. New fully optimized tanks are now possible, and this way the use of steel reinforcements is no longer necessary, which results in less logistics problems and lower costs.
